On November 3, 2011 by Will Hermes

A piece of a rare old documentary about a group as important as the Ramones, Talking Heads, or any from the era. (Thanks Pedro Mendes)

Despite their name, they really made their mark in New York. When they played a run at the Five Spot in ’75, heads exploded.

In fact, the Chicago scene (Braxton, Threadgill, AEOC, etc.) shaped the loft jazz aesthetic and ambition as much as any New Yorkers did.

“I’m kind of a research trumpeter. That’s why I wear the lab coat” – Lester Bowie
