The Art Ensemble of Chicago
A piece of a rare old documentary about a group as important as the Ramones, Talking Heads, or any from the era. (Thanks Pedro Mendes)

In fact, the Chicago scene (Braxton, Threadgill, AEOC, etc.) shaped the loft jazz aesthetic and ambition as much as any New Yorkers did.
“I’m kind of a research trumpeter. That’s why I wear the lab coat” – Lester Bowie
